The road to the Nike Women’s Half Marathon 2011 begins here. This year is my 6th year doing the Nike Women’s half marathon as a participant with Team in Training. Each season, I’ve pledged to raise funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in honor of those battling blood cancers – this year I have pledged to raise $3,000, running in memory of my friend John Kark, who battled both Leukemia and Lymphoma with more heart than anyone could ever have imagined.
You can make a donation by clicking here. Stay tuned for updates on my training, tips for other runners, and my progress towards my goal. See you at the finish line – October 16th, 2011!

If you’d like someone to train with, keep me in mind. I am training for the Portland Marathon in October. I’ve been running in Vibram 5 Fingers, so most of my runs are on the golf course by my home or at the track either at King K or the War Memorial. I ran 7 miles today at the War Memorial, and like that track better because it is a bit softer than the one Upcountry where I normally run on the infield. Eventually, I hope to build up to where I can run on the roads in my new Vibram 5 Fingers shoes.
I absolutely admire all the things you do Malia. You are amazing and such a hero…or heroine
Thanks for helping with fundraising for these causes.
